The Lake George Area Attracting
Groups from Elvis Aficionados to Fire Chiefs

WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. (May 31, 2007) – The Lake George Area’s blend of amenities, accommodations and special opportunities is attracting a wide range of group meetings and gatherings, including corporations, associations, school groups or friends and extended families.

For example, the largest Elvis Festival in the Northeast will converge on the Lake George area, June 1-3, 2007. This weekend, themed to the 35th anniversary of Elvis’ four, sold out performances at Madison Square Garden, will feature performances by more than 60 Elvis Tribute Artists, memorabilia vendors, classic car parade, Sunday morning gospel service and more.

If “Burning Love” is not up your alley, get a look at the latest technology to help dowse the flames and support the brave firefighters of New York State with the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs 101st Annual Conference and FIRE 2007 Expo in Lake George, June 14 – 16, 2007. It includes exhibits, hands on training, networking and workshops from leading fire service educators.

The Lake George Area is a group tour and meeting destination in the Adirondack Mountains located between Manhattan and Montreal. This four-season destination offers world-class attractions, recreational activities, and lodging and dining options for all budgets. With amenities ranging from more than 300 lodging properties (with over 9,000 rooms), nine uniquely situated golf courses, shopping (outlet and boutique), events, activities and wellness facilities, the Lake George Area is ideal for small executive retreats, annual conferences, class field trips, family special occasions or large multi-facility events.

The Warren County Tourism Department can connect organizations with local specialists who provide meeting site planning, team building options and welcome/orientation options, and can make transportation connections by car, bus, boat or air.

Special group arrangements can be made for popular events and festivals including Jazz Weekend, Adirondack Nationals Car Show, I Love New York Summer Festival commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the French & Indian War, the World’s Largest Garage Sale, the Adirondack Balloon Festival or Fall Foliage weekends.

Sample tour itineraries include “Last of the Mohicans,” which gives visitors a glimpse of James Fenimore Cooper’s world, and “Talking Quilts of the Secret Network,” which illuminates the messages captured in quilts that directed “passengers” on the Underground Railroad.

Nature lovers can explore the “Lakes to Locks Passage” or the “Rails, Treasures and Trails” tours against the backdrop of the spectacular scenery and wildlife of the Adirondacks.
