Let it Snow!
For several generations, the Lake George Area has and will continue to redefine winter as a season of Adirondack activity and merriment. And with countless activities and events, you'll see why. Skiing, Snowboarding, Winter Carnivals, Igloo Dining. You name it, we've got it!
Winter in the Lake George Area is exceptional for all manner of sports. The lakes and streams that dot the region become ice fishing hotspots that can land you big lake trout or a flurry of perch. Those frozen lakes double as ice skating rinks that are perfect for pick-up hockey. Cross-country ski trails are groomed for classic and skate, and some trails are lighted so you can explore at night. Snowshoe on just about any hiking trail for a winter trek you won’t soon forget.
Ski the 3 this winter! The Lake George Area has three premier ski resorts – Gore, West, and Hickory. The miles of snow-covered trails at the area’s skiing and snowboarding mountains are some of the steepest and most exhilarating runs in the East.
Ski like the locals at Gore Mountain – the largest ski resort in New York. Located in North Creek, Gore is a popular, full-service recreational destination that attracts skiers from all over the East Coast. Choose an arctic adventure from their network of trails that spans nine sides of four peaks – Bear, Burnt Ridge, Little Gore, and Gore. Skiers at all levels will enjoy the diversity of terrains. Ski Bowl Park, at the base of Little Gore, offers even more options for alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more.
West Mountain is a family-friendly ski area located in Queensbury with a top elevation of 1,470 ft. In the winter months, West offers snowboarding, snow tubing, lessons, and rentals in addition to a total of 31 beginner slopes to expert terrain for downhill, and 15 well-lit runs for night skiing.
Hickory Ski Center in Warrensburg is a hidden gem among East Coast resorts, offering a vintage ski experience with all-natural snow. With a vertical drop of 1,200 ft., it is well-known among experienced skiers for its challenging snow conditions and expert-level trails.
