Adirondack Pastel Society and Johnsburg Fine Arts presents "Beyond the Blue Line: The Art of Travel"
Stop by the Widlund Gallery, in Tannery Pond Center, to browse through this colorful exhibit! Gallery hours are Wednesday - Friday, 10am - 4pm; Saturday, 12pm - 4pm. Additional hours by appointment.
Curious about where our neighbors had traveled, the Widlund Gallery committee invited anyone with a connection to the Gore Mountain Region to submit art from or inspired by their travels Beyond the Blue Line.
And, boy, have they traveled! From the Grand Canyon to India, Oregon to Croatia, Alaska to Cuba, New Mexico to Ireland, and so much more, our neighbors share with us their intrepid spirit and insatiable curiosity. While most are currently rooted at home in the Adirondacks, in this exhibit, they share stories of discovery, enlightenment, delight, awe, and exploration. They describe travel as a source of rejuvenation and learning, a time to connect with old friends and make new ones. They are dazzled and humbled by what they have seen.
The show includes photos, paintings, carvings, sacred objects, and much more.
The Opening Reception will take place Friday, January 7 from 5pm-7pm
For everyone's safety at the reception, all will be required to show proof of vaccination OR recent negative PCR test.
Refreshments will not be served at the opening reception.
